What are the key steps in the making process of Dutch velvet?

The production process of Dutch Velvet is full of the combination of traditional craftsmanship and exquisite skills. From the selection of raw materials to the birth of finished products, every step embodies the efforts and wisdom of the craftsmen.

1. Raw material preparation
The production of Dutch Velvet starts with selecting high-quality raw materials. Usually, this fabric uses high-quality silk or man-made fibers as raw materials. Silk is known for its natural luster and toughness, while man-made fibers are favored for their plasticity and stability. The choice of raw materials directly determines the quality of the final product.

2. Spinning and weaving
First, fiber raw materials (such as polyester, polyamide, etc.) are made into slices and then melted by heating. The melted slices enter the extruder, are compressed and have a certain melt pressure. At the melt outlet, a static mixer is used to mix the melt evenly to enhance the uniformity of the melt and reduce the difference in temperature and residence time between the pipe wall and the center of the pipe when the melt passes through the bend. The melt output from the screw extruder is distributed through the distribution pipe to the metering pump at each spinning position for metering. The metering pump ensures consistent linear density and even dryness of the filament, and can pressurize the melt to meet the needs of high-pressure spinning. Before spinning, filter materials such as filter sand are used to filter out impurities in the melt to ensure the purity of the spinning process. The filtered melt is distributed to each spinneret hole on the spinneret plate, and is spit out from the spinneret hole to form a thin stream of melt. These thin streams of melt then cool and solidify into filaments within the spinning window. Weaving is the process of weaving yarn through a loom to make finished fabric. Its steps include: preparing yarn, drawing in, shedding, weft insertion, beating up, and taking up. There are many types of looms, including warp knitting machines, weft knitting machines, knitting machines, etc. Different types of looms are suitable for producing different types of fabrics, such as bed sheets, quilt covers, towels, sweaters, etc. During the weaving process, it is necessary to select the appropriate loom and weaving structure according to the design requirements to ensure that the appearance and performance of the textile meet expectations.

3. Base fabric production
After the weaving is completed, craftsmen will make a layer of base fabric. The base fabric usually adopts plain or twill structure to increase the firmness and stability of the fabric. The production of the base fabric also requires strict quality control to ensure that it matches the subsequent processing steps.

4. Raising and trimming
Raising is one of the most critical steps in the production process of Dutch Velvet. Craftsmen will use a special raising machine to comb the fibers on the surface of the fabric into fine piles. This process requires great skill and patience, as excessive pile will cause the fabric to lose its luster, while insufficient pile will affect its softness and warmth. After the pile is completed, the craftsmen will also use scissors to trim the pile to make it more neat and beautiful.

5. Dyeing and printing
After being raised and trimmed, the Dutch Velvet fabric is sent to the dyeing workshop for dyeing. During the dyeing process, craftsmen will choose appropriate dyes and dyeing processes based on design needs. After dyeing is complete, the fabric is fixed to prevent the color from fading. In addition, some uniquely designed Dutch Velvet will also be printed after dyeing to increase its artistry and ornamental value.

6. Post-processing
Finishing is the final step in the production process of Dutch Velvet. During this step, craftsmen wash, dry and iron the fabric to remove impurities and wrinkles created during the production process. At the same time, they also fine-tune the size and shape of the fabric to ensure it meets the design requirements. Once finishing is complete, the Dutch Velvet fabric is ready for packaging and sale.

7. Quality inspection
Quality inspection runs throughout the entire production process. From the selection of raw materials to the birth of finished products, every step requires strict quality inspection. Only products that meet the standards can enter the next process and eventually become high-quality products on the market.
